A "fib" is a rhythm structure where each subsequent line is the sum of the previous two: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc. I sometimes go up and then back down.
The form was created by my friend Greg Pincus, and you should check out his site at http://gottabook.blogspot.com/.
A
Long,
Happy
Marriage is
More holy than all
The prayers in a King James bible.
Then let bodies do
What hands do,
My love:
Let's
Pray.
Love
One
Person
Perfectly
And the world unfolds
Its tender, child-soft ribs to you.
Then and only then
Do you feel
The World’s
Heart
Beat.
Each
Day,
Moment
By moment,
I feel the rhythm
Of your heart keeping time with mine
As our souls slow dance
In despite
Of Time’s
Fast
Song.
Be
My
Only
Valentine
Only for today
And for every day following;
Life without you is
Life without
Air, and
I
Can't
Love
Is
All that
Seasons still
The sauce of marriage.
It simmers slow for twenty years
In security;
Is boiled by
Need that
Is
Lust.
Lust
Is
Need that
Is boiled by
Insecurity.
It simmers slow for twenty years;
The sauce of marriage
Seasons—still,
All that
Is
Love.
